Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself also in the LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
David amidst many hardships that head his people had gone through, had this psalm, which may be in contrast with the situation they were in. He says delight yourself in the Lord. To delight is to get pleasure from something or somebody. In this context, we find pleasure in God.
The desire of God as we have seen previously is for us to live a victorious life and it is so by giving him all, that he may take charge of our lives.
When you delight in the excellencies of God you will come to understand that everything about Him is the answer to your longings. Devote yourself to discovering in the Bible what He reveals about His character and ways and you cannot help but delight in His excellence.
If you spend the rest of your life learning the immeasurable greatness of God, admiration for Jesus will explode in your heart and mind. This will ignite an insatiable desire in you to know more of His excellencies, resulting in even greater delight and true satisfaction in Him. And nothing, not even fretful circumstances, will steal away from you this supernatural delight.
Once we have grown in all this, what else shall we desire that God will not give unto us for our confidence is built and rooted in HIM.
